Amena Brown

A couple of years ago Nancy and I were blessed to be in attendance at a Worship Arts conference in Atlanta, sponsored by Passion, at North Point Community Church. It was called the Facedown Conference and was the occasion and location of the live recording of Matt Redman's Facedown album. There were many wonderful, worshipful and artistic things that happened that weekend. It was truly a mountaintop experience, one that we still remember with joy, and that continues to fuel a lot of what we do. (Get the DVD, it's extraordinarily well done and extraordinarily cheap at the link above.)

One of the artists who performed and talked about her amazing work was the poetess, Amena Brown. Check this out. This really knocks me out and I hope it will you as well.

At our church, in a couple of weeks, we are going to have a similar offering in which a poem by one of our gifted writers, John Waltz, will be performed. It should be interesting, both an opportunity and a challenge. I will be composing the musical underscore and orating the poem live.

My prayer is that it will be excellent, effective, and moving. And, most importantly, that the Lord will be blessed by it.
