This article answers in disturbing detail a question I've wondered about for a long time. Everyone I know hates Spam. Nobody I know responds to unsolicited junk emails offering Viagra, mortgage loans, tax help, or anything else. Yet I still get nearly 200 a day in my filter. And I know many folks get much more than that. Clearly, somebody somewhere is making big money on spam or it wouldn't continue to clog the electronic highway.
This article from MSNBC.com explains who profits and why, and it is quite surprising.
